New Delhi: On Monday, more than 21,000 adolescents in the age group 15-17 years, which received the first dose of Covaxin on January 3, will be eligible for their second dose and the second round of this cohort vaccination will begin.
“Everyone who is vaccinated on January 3, 2022, when their vaccination in the age group 15 to 17 years began, it will be eligible for the second dose of Covaxin on Monday with a settlement of the mandatory gap 28 days,” said an official.
Until 6pm on Sunday, a total of 8.06,244 teenagers were given the first dose of Covaxin, which was almost 80% of about 10.14 Lakh recipients in this age group, according to the estimated General Commissioner and Indian Registrar Census.
However, according to the estimates carried out by the Delhi government, around 7.5 students of the Lakh study of this age group in the schools it runs, regardless of more than 50,000 schools assisted by the government, and 3.3 private school students.
“While this cohort vaccination rate has been fast, we now ensure that the remaining children who have not received their first dose are discussed as soon as possible.
We also focus on those who will be eligible for the second dose of this week and so on,” he said.
More than 2.5 lakh teenagers are given the first dose between January 3 and 9, which will be eligible in the first week of February for the second dose.
Officials say that even though teenagers have shown a great enthusiasm of vaccination, they will send an SMS to make sure they take the second dose on time.
Causes of concern for the authorities have become a qualified population in this age group, which comes out of school, including the homeless population.
The Ministry of Health has coordinated with the social welfare and the Women’s and Child Development Department, to ensure that all those in this cohort are borne.
To ensure a fast-paced teen coverage, the Directorate of Education of the Delhi Government has issued a resort of a circular from all schools to play an important role in training, regardless of the guidelines for the schools that have been designated as the center.
