Pune: The level of high protection (seroprevalence) against Covid-19 has been detected in more than 500 health service workers even three to seven months after taking two doses of covishield, the latest analysis by BJ GOVERNMENT BJ MEDICAL COLLEGE (BJMC) and Sassoon Hospital has revealed.
With a high level of protection (seroprevalence) in participants at this time, this study concluded that the third amplifier, while a piece of population had not yet received their second shot, may not be recommended, Dr.
Muralidhar Tambe, Professor and Head of Community Medicine at BJMC, told TII.
The study also found that in all categories of 558 health workers (HCWS), which is part of the study, the prevalence of antibodies above 90% month after completing two vaccine doses.
Dr.
Tambe said, “Although we found that the prevalence of antibodies decreased because the duration of the interval increased after two covid vaccine doses, the level of immunity remained high.
The positivity of antibodies among the research participants was at 96.77% in three months posting full vaccination, up to 100 % in four months, and then fell to 91.89% on seven months after two initial doses.
“Dr.
Tambe said overall, from 558 HCW participating in this study, 94.4% positive for Covid neutralized antibodies during the study period .
