Chennai: Chennai Air Customs has confiscated four postal packages that have 4,180 tablets containing psychotropic substances and three fields of marijuana from a foreign post office.
Customs officials confiscated two registered packages booked from Ethhiraj Salai in Chennai to the US by people based in Delhi.
Parcel, which was declared a document, contained 1,980 hydrocloride tramadol tablets (100mg).
Two packages ordered from Chetpet in Chennai to the US by people based in Delhi were examined with suspicion.
The package contains 1,200 zolpidem tartrate tablets (10 mg IP) and 1,000 tramadol hydrochloride tablets (100mg).
Tramadol hydrochloride tablets and zolpidem (IP 10 mg) tablets fall in the category of psychotropic substances as mentioned in schedule with narcotics narcotics and psychotropic law, 1985, export that is prohibited without export authorities issued by competent authorities.
In other cases, officials recover 194 grams of marijuana from three postal packages arrived from the US and Canada.
