Mangaluru: Department of Forest Dakshina Kannada is directed to be part of the Tiger census.
The training program has been completed and the initial meeting has been held, said DCF Dinesh Kumar YK.
The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA), and the Wildlife Institute of India (WII) said the census must be completed in January to release the final report in July next year.
The Karnataka forestry department is directed at the Tiger census and expects a considerable increase in the country’s tiger population, he said.
“All training programs have been carried out and there will be 152 transects and surveys will be carried out at eight range of Mangaloru region.
Special focus will be given to Belthangady, Subrahmanya, Uppinangady and Sulti Range which has a high forest area,” said Dinesh Kumar.
“We suspect the movement of at least two tigers in the district border region.
There are several signs of the tiger visit but there is no sighting that is recorded so far.
The movement is suspected at the limit of Kudremukh National Park and the Pushpagiri Wildlife area and can be once a year To record the number of tigers.
In each location, two cameras will be installed.
Generally in tiger reserves, monitoring is done every year, “he added that the survey would be carried out according to government direction.
“We regularly monitor reserve forest areas and places where the tiger movement is suspected.
