Vadodara: If Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) will quickly execute an ambitious safari park project at Ajwa, the tragic death of 13 deer sambar from the FMD spread can be avoided.
Civil officials said that they had planned to shift all herbivorous animals to this safari park.
“It’s been a few decades since the new sambar deer was taken to the zoo.
Therefore, all newborns come from breeders who might cause immune oppression.
We have planned to shift all herbivorous animals including Sambar Deer to Safari at Ajwa,” said an official VMC.
“A breeding plan was prepared for sambar where we would bring male sambar from other zoos to breed in the zoo.
In fact, letters have also been sent to several zoos to get a male sambar deer.
But with a safari project at Limbo for years, our sambar breeding plan was also delayed, “the official word is more susceptible to disease.
“Every year, two to three sambar deer is dying for health reasons.
So, the breeding plan to bring male sambars from other zoos has been prepared.
We have a separate sambar cage at Taman Safari Ajwa,” Patkarkar was confirmed.
The proposed safari park located about 20 km from the city will be home to herbivorous animals which are usually not visible in India.
According to the VMC plan, people will be taken in a vehicle in a large park that will be designed on the lines of the African safari model.
This project is based on public-private participation so that VMC does not need to spend money on it.
