New Delhi: A 36-year-old man from Jammu and Kashmir allegedly killed in his rented accommodation at the S-Block of Greater Kailash-i on Monday.
The police suspected personal hostility behind crime, but had not ruled out theft.
On Monday, PCr got a call where the caller claimed that his tenant was lying unconscious in his flat.
“A team rushed to S-block and found the victim, Rahul Thakur, who lived with his mother Anita on the ground floor, lying fainting.
He rushed to the hospital where he was declared dead,” said an officer.
The house was owned by an advocate and his family lived on the first and second floor.
DCP (South) Benita Mary Jaiker said Thakur worked at the Haat Dilli Art Gallery.
“He has taken a rent house a month ago.
His mother went to their original place 3-4 days ago.
The police have confiscated three cellphones from that place,” the officer added.
Jaikar said the initial investigation suggested that he be strangled and the police were waiting for the postmortem examination report to get clarity.
According to residents, a waiter came to the house in the morning and found the Thakur door open.
“The waiter was suspicious and told the owner of the house.
They rushed to the ground floor and then told the police,” said a resident.
A source said the police had restored CCTV footage where they saw a white car entering the community around 1am and departed around 3am.
The vehicle stopped near Thakur’s house and several people came out of the car.
“We have identified several suspects based on recordings,” said an officer.
DCP and additional DCP southern districts also reach places in the morning.
The source said there were five gates in the community.
Four are closed and only the number 2 gate is open.
“The car enters the community from this gate.
Seven cameras were installed there.
The police also checked whether the vehicle was a taxi,” the source added.
The list of entrances has been confiscated by the police and they do not rule out theft.
So far, nothing was found missing from the deceased’s house.
The police investigated the role of people known by Thakur.
“The deceased is vice president of the art gallery.
We have taken several suspects to be questioned,” said an investigation.
