New Delhi: A 37-year-old truck driver was arrested for allegedly supplies drugs in the national capital, police said on Wednesday.
The defendant was identified as Aarif Khan, a resident of Melat Regency in Haryana.
Acting on the tip-off, the police put a trap near Tuxindpuri Village in Govindpuri on Monday and a truck driver was intercepted, said a senior police officer.
When the truck driver tried to escape, the police beat him and took him in detention, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southeast) Esha Pandey.
During interrogation, Khan revealed that he had worked for someone in Najafgarh for more than six months.
In the first week of December, he went to Bihar with 250 cartons of illegal liquor.
He delivered a carton on Patna and then went to Odisha, DCP said.
From Odisha, he bought 125 kg of marijuana for Rs 25 Lakh.
It was decided that he would meet someone near the village of Tuxlakabad where he should hand over the vehicle to him, Pandey said.
The police said they confiscated 125 kg of marijuana from his ownership.
