Vadodara: Investigating to Hawala Funds for conversion racquets has revealed that many conspiracies to create riots in Delhi last year and Shaheenbuag protests were hatched in Bharuch.
Senior police officers said that one of the keys to accusing Mohammad Umar visited Bharuch several times over the past two years to meet.
“Bharuch is a protest planning center for the citizenship amendment law (CAA) and Shaheenbuag protest.
MD Umar and Vadodara Resident Salahuddin Sheikh conspired to help the defendant in Delhi Riots during their meeting in Ankleshwar,” said a senior police officer.
The officials who investigated said that a businessman from England had sent Hospital 60 Crore to Sheikh through Dubai.
“This entrepreneur was originally from Nabipur Village in Bharuch and therefore had many contacts there.
So, a meeting for the hawala launder and fund protests was mostly held at Bharuch.
England-based entrepreneurs have held community meetings there to collect the money,” said an investigative official told toi.
“We have received evidence of how most of the hawala money and even legal contributions received by Sheikh are illegally diverted to fund this agitation and financing costs including the cost of the food of Shaheenbuag protesters,” the official said.
Hawala’s money was sent from Dubai to Mumbai to avoid the attention of Delhi-based agents.
This money is then diverted to Delhi and Gujarat.
“Once we get the custody of Salahuddin Sheikh and MD Umar, we will get complete details of their contacts in Bharuch.
Many more arrests will follow,” Police added.
Accused of funding conversion activities throughout the country, Sheikh allegedly received almost 60 crore rs through Hawala and Rs 19 Crore with donations for his trust over the past five years.
