Vadodara: This city staggered under the dengue wave that was unprecedented.
Not only the numbers are historically high, but if the doctor will be trusted, the symptoms are unexpected and severe this year.
Until Monday, the city had seen 2,177 cases of dengue fever which was officially confirmed.
The numbers only include cases that are confirmed by the Elisa test and not those who test positive in a quick test.
In the plague in 2016, the city has seen 1,514 dengue cases.
After this, the only time when the city witnessed dengue fever in four points before this year was in 2019 when 1,247 cases were reported.
VMC officials said that this disease had not reached an unprecedented level in the community.
“These numbers look higher because of better rejection and better reporting,” said the VMC (health) medical officer Dr.
Devesh Patel.
Apart from a higher number, the doctor in the city shows that some of the symptoms that are not common in previous dengue fever are more prevalant this time.
“Neurologists, lungs, and levers involve more regardless this time,” said the expert of the infectious disease from Hiten Kareliya.
He said he had found cases with where the kidney was infected, bladder cystitis, lever abscess, meningitis and several other conditions.
“In previous years, classical symptoms were fever, rash and platelet reduction,” he said.
Dr.
Niraj Chawda from Nand Hospital also said this time there were not many cases of hemorrhagic fever.
“We have found cases of lung and encephylitis involvement,” Chawda said.
Dr.
Chawda added one reason severe symptoms could be some infected people a second time.
“Severe disease in such cases.
Dengue is not too common in the city until a few years ago.
There is a possibility that some people are infected the second time because the larger population has been infected once,” he said.
A VMC health official said, “The way Covid-19 can affect the well-known long-term organs.
Severe or unusual cases of dengue may have Covid before, but there are no records about this,” the official said.
