Mangaluru: Although Dakshina Kannada District has 36 Covid (CCC) treatment centers with nearly 2,700 beds, the majority of people infected with the SARS-COV-2 virus are reluctant to go to government facilities.
While this district has almost 3,308 active cases, 2,465, which is 75% of them, is in house isolation on Wednesday.
While 643 people have been treated in various hospitals, only around 200 at the CCC in this district.
The Chairman of the Bukavaraj Bommai Minister during his recent visit to the district, has directed officials to divert the majority of cases to CCCS or hospitals through the right triage by medical officers.
Dho Dr.
Kishore Kumar M told ToI that health staff had convinced people to switch to CCCS.
“We have faced resistance from people when they are asked to shift to CCC.
Our staff has reached out to those who have been infected, and try to convince them to switch to CCC.
It is difficult to manage cases of house isolation, because health staff must visit each home to monitor the health status of infected people.
Likewise, our staff must track the main contacts of all positive cases, and monitor them too.
Next, they have to make a visit repeatedly, if the main contact also tests positive.
Therefore, management case and Prevention of the spread of the disease is very easy when the majority of cases are in CCC or hospitals.
We have directed health staff to be required to divert all positive cases with comorbidity and vulnerable to CCC, “Dho said.
Dr.
Ashok H, Nodal Officer for Covid-19 in Dakshina Kannada, said the community cooperation was important in terms of prevention of the spread of Covid-19.
“People must follow the instruction of doctors when they are asked to switch to CCC or hospital.
People must take advantage of treatment at CCC or hospital and get treatment according to medical officer advice.
Patients with comorbidity such as diabetes, hypertension and malignancy must be recognized for CCCS or hospital, “he added.
