Mumbai: Dharavi reported 107 fresh Covid cases on Thursday, the count of one highest day since the start of Pandemi.
The previous highest was on April 8, 2021, when the area reported 99 Covid cases.
Officials said they had tested aggressively to curb the spread of the virus and therefore, the number surged.
Covid-19 has entered Dharavi on April 1, 2020, and there are days when more than 90 cases are reported from there.
For example, on May 3 last year, 95 cases were reported, while on May 15, 84 cases were reported.
On December 25, 2020, for the first time the area reported a zero covid case since the start of Pandemi.
For a long time, the Covid case remained under 20 there.
The first vaccination center in the slum cluster is set in Dharavi, where BMC aims to vaccinate the senior population and those who have comorbidities by establishing a center at the urban health center, known as ‘Chota Sion Hospital’.
