Discrimination in allocation of funds for kannada decried

Mysuru: Activist Sagar Karnataka protested against the central government for allegedly delaying to provide autonomous status for the center of excellence for studies in Kannada Classic.
The protesters gathered near the DC office on Friday and the state government.
They said the central government provided classical status to Kannada 3,000 years only after protests from Kannadiangas.
“But after giving classical status, the center has completely ignored the language.
Meanwhile only gives Rs 1 Crore every year for language development, it has provided autonomous status to Tamil and established the Central Tamil Central Institute in Chennai and also given RS 50 Crore in Seven years, “they said.
The government has given Sanction RS 680 Crore in seven years for the development of Sanskrit, which is spoken by only around 28,000 people.
Kannada, which is the mother tongue of 6.5 crore population, has received an amount of 8.39 crore rs, they said.
There is a need for research and academic activities in Kannada for its development.
The central government must immediately release Hospital 25 Crore to establish a classic Kannada study center at Mysore University, they demanded.
