Nagpur: While Covid-19 vaccination across the milestone of 100 crore in the country on Thursday, Vidarbha has contributed by almost 1.71 Crore Jab to October 21.
A total of 1,70.07.424 doses have been given in the region.
An analysis showed that 75% of those who were vaccinated in Vidarbha had received Jab Covishield, while 25% got a Covaxin shot.
Although both vaccines are safe and effective, similar trends are witnessed nationally because of the coverage of covishield than Kovaxin.
However, the experience at Vidarbha for the past nine months shows that districts where covaxin is given in large quantities have shown better control, fewer deaths, and fewer new cases.
Overall, the Covid-19 graph was at the beginning, especially in the past two months.
However, districts where more than 40% of people receive Covaxin in better conditions, disclose data.
In Vidarbha, Bhandara, Gondia and Washim are three districts where Covaxin is given to more than 40% of the qualified population.
Gondia has reported zero death, Washim 2 and Bhandara 2 victims because of Covid-19 between July 21 and October 21, a period of 4 months since the second wave receded.
However, experts say it is too early to correlate between the type of vaccine and Covid-19 control.
“Although, Covaxin has shown excellent results, Covishield is being given in large quantities throughout the country.
Cases and deaths have dropped in all Vidarbha districts after vaccination.
Overall, this is a success story of vaccination,” said Dr.
Nitin Shinde, a specialist disease infectious.
A senior government official, who has been associated with a vaccine distribution process, said there was no intention to distribute more covaxin to certain districts.
“Although both vaccines are available in this country, Covishield is available in a good amount from the beginning.
As a result, more people get Jab Covishield in India.
Sputnik V is approved at the next stage,” he said.
Doctors in Gondia, Bhandara and Washim said the Covid situation was under control and could be caused by the distribution of almost the same as both vaccines.
“As far as concerning containers, Covid victims are not right from vaccinations starting there.
Even now, we don’t get a lot of serious cases.
Inpatient is zero.
The five patients about the date recovered in home isolation,” said Dr.
Madhukar Rathod, a civil surgeon Washim.
