Hyderabad: A man fell into the storm water trench filled with water, excavated by the Manikonda civil authority to drain, and was swept away during heavy rain on Saturday night.
Despite the efforts of rescue 24 hours, the authorities failed to find the person, who is now afraid to die.
The person was suspected of being a 42-year-old technician who had stepped out of his house to smoke.
A surprising incident was accidentally captured by someone who made the rain video and puppalaguda-neknampur flooded.
Around 9pm on Saturday, the man, who had attracted his pants, was seen walking on the side of the road, navigating water in the ankle, as seen in the video.
After walking for a few meters, it didn’t realize there was a ditch, he fell into running water, which broke him.
The entire incident was captured on a cellphone camera by someone, who made the video.
Cyberabad police suspect the missing person can be a software engineer, who lives in that environment.
Although officials claimed the area was battered, there were no signs of barricades seen in the video and the man could easily access the area, which led to his fatal downfall.
Meanwhile, a married woman came to the road to find her husband, who came out for smoke.
When he saw a large number of people gathered in an open drain, he knew that a man was swept away in a ditch.
After seeing the video and based on the color of the shirt, he was very suspicious of the victim was her husband, a software engineer who worked in a company in Shadnagar.
GHMC Disaster Response (DRF) and other institutions, including the police, immediately launched search operations in Punjanbagh and Ibrahim Cheruvu and other water catchments.
The missing casing was registered by the local police.
Commissioner of Manikonda City S Jayanth said they were still looking for the person.
Speaking to Toi, he said that they had aroused drag drains in the area and added that the work was delayed because of the Ganesh festival.
“The work began about two months ago.
It was postponed by two weeks because of the Ganesh festival.
We have joined the area.
The possibility is after falling in the sewer, he might be swept towards Ibrahim Cheruvu and Musi,” Jayanth said, added that the job will be finished in the next 20 days.
