Ahmedabad: Gujarat High Court issued a notification to the government of the top of the petition submitted by doctors in services seeking the implementation of reservations for them in the Postgraduate Course (PG) from the academic year 2021-22.
With resolution passed on January 10, the State Authority decided to implement a 10% order in the PG Degree course for doctors who worked in government health facilities from the next academic year, 2022-23.
Service doctors, posted in PHC and CHCS, have demanded that quota for higher medical studies are made effective from the current academic year.
A petition submitted through Advocates Rashesh Rindani and Shirish Gehil argued that the NEET-PG exam was late because of the pandemic situation.
If the quota system for doctors in the service is implemented from the next academic year, the doctor who has succeeded in clearing this year’s NEET-PG exam will be confused without their mistakes.
The change arose after the decision to reduce the PG diploma seat and increase the seat of the PG decision on the command of the Central Authority.
The Petitioners’ doctors handed over that other countries have also carved reservations for government doctors for the PG course because West Bengal has 40%, Madhya Pradesh has 30%, Tamil Nadu has 50% and Andhra Pradesh has a reservation of 10%.
All of these states decided to adopt a quota system from the academic year 2021-22.
They urged the court to direct the Gujarat government to apply reservations as they have done by these other countries.
In addition, it has also been obtained that this system is seen as an incentive for doctors to take government work and serve in rural areas.
