Vadodara: About seven years after it was considered, the solar dome on Jalan Akota-Dandedazaar finally saw the daylight formally on Thursday.
The dome, mentioned as the first of its kind project, was established on the road in the city.
Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) has imagined the project in July 2014 immediately after the Akota-Dandedaedaar road was inaugurated in February 2014.
But the work began on the project only a year later.
Doing solar power generation units, Dome is planned as a structure that will be an attraction on the road that appears as a place where many spend time or go drive.
It is also popular among pedestrians, runners and cyclists.
This project is delayed because of some road barriers.
Progress on the project remains slow.
Some reasons including accidents during work, VMC’s reluctance to close traffic is completely on the road and locking causing the progress of the TARDY from the project.
The VMC initially wants to install solar panels in public-private partnership mode so that it does not have to spend a lot on the project.
However, it must be done with the idea because there are not many takers for it.
“This project is delayed because of the situation we do not expect.
But it is still a new project,” said an official.
Taking in the inauguration, Minister of Energy Saurabh Patel said that the project was located in the heart of the city and would lead to saving Lakh Rupees.
Memorandum Understanding for this project is also exchanged by VMC and Madhya Gujarat VIJ Company Ltd.
