Mangaluru: After obtaining permission from the Civil Aviation Security Bureau (BCAS), domestic cargo services continued at Mangaluru International Airport (MIA) on Saturday.
The service has stopped for several months, because of the objections raised by the customs department.
On the first day, 200kg cargo was received at Mia from Bengaluru.
The domestic cargo terminal functions under the logistics of cargo and allied service companies, a subsidiary of the Indian Airport Authority (AAA), and the regulatory body to carry out domestic cargo services in Mia.
At present, services are only available for bound cargo, and will continue after a few days for bound cargo, said Selva Kumar M, cargo manager, Mia.
“Scanning personnel have been recruited from Chennai, and will take time for them to report tasks.
Bound cargo services have enough staff,” he said.
Previously, domestic bound cargo was accepted at the International Terminal.
It was stopped on February 1, after the objection was raised by customs.
Meanwhile, domestic cargo services handled by private companies were stopped in June 2020.
After that, he shifted to an international cargo terminal for a year, and once again stopped, because the objection was raised by the customs department.
Domestic cargo operations cannot be handled in international cargo facilities.
Once the domestic cargo out-tied service really stopped, transferred to Kempegowda International Airport from Mia.
Cargo is accepted at the cargo terminal, and a separate sector.

This setting delays the service for more than 12 hours.
“All this hassle will forget, once the domestic cargo out service continues to Mia.
About 90% of the domestic cargo received in Mia comes from the security press in Manipal,” added Selva Kumar.
