Rajkot: On Friday, Bhavnagar Municipal Corporation suspended drive vaccination for the age group 15-18 years.
Against Jabbing targets 17,000 to 18,000 teenagers per day, Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC) only has 7,500 doses on Friday.
The day saw Jamnagar Municipal Corporation gave 2,000 doses on the 11,000-mark sign that had been reached on January 3, drive vaccination day for the 15-18 year age group was launched.
After an aggressive start, vaccination drive for teenagers has slowed due to lack of doses.
After asking for fresh shares, the city corporation in Saurashtra is now awaiting approval from the government.
A senior official Bhavnagar Municipal Corporation, who wanted not to be named, said that they were not sure when the drive vaccine for teenagers would continue.
“We continue to connect with the authorities in Gandhinagar for new dose stock.
But until Friday night there is no confirmation about the same thing.
We will be able to start the vaccination drive only after we receive fresh stock,” he said.
Bhavnagar Civic Body has identified 39,000 teenagers for special encouragement where 27,000 have been given the first dose.
Everything is not much different in Rajkot.
The source at Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC) said that the Civic body had not received new vaccine stocks since January 3.
Until Thursday, RMC has provided 60,000 doses, almost all stocks available.
After setting a target of 17,000-18,000 jabs per day, RMC only has 7,500 doses available for Friday.
“We relate to officials in Gandhinagar.
In Saturday vaccination sessions in various different centers will be arranged according to stock availability,” said an RMC official to Ti.
Jamnagar Municipal Corporation Sources also confirms the lack of vaccines.
The Civic’s body only gave 2,000 doses on Friday after a piercing 11,000 teenagers on January 3 on January 3 which was directed by the government, teenagers were only given a covaxin dose.
City companies have started dedicated centers in schools so that they can cover most teenagers and also to avoid mixed doses with covishield.
