12779 Vasco – H Nizamuddin Goa Express Chuggling from Margao Railway Station on Sunday afternoon, The South Western Railway (SWR) announced the commissioning of 15.2 km of Margao-Chandor-Sanvordem route that was tracked twice.
The Margao-sanvordem section is part of the double Tiachat-Vasco Swr tracking project.
RAIL VIKAS NIGAM LTD’s (RVNL) General Manager Projects (Goa) Sashibhusan Sahoo, Transport Inspector Swr Mehra Fernandes and other senior officials from the Indian train are present on that occasion.
“This is an important milestone in a double tracking work in the Tiachat-Vasco section which will further accelerate the progress of the work on the rest of the section,” said Sahoo.
He said that the electrification work of the cave part was also growing rapidly.
The Margao-Sanvordem section was assigned after the settlement of non-interlocking works at Sanvordem, Chandor and Margao, President’s head of Aneesh Hegde told reporters.
Previously, on September 23, the Safety Commissioner of the Railway, South Circle, Bengaluru, had examined the legislation and speed trials in the Margao-Chandor-Sanvordem section, after which authorization was given to the SWR to open commercial service passengers and traffic goods on the newly built double line.
“Preparatory works for commissioning parts of Margao-Chandor-Sanvordem starting from September 25 and non-intlocking pre-work jobs were taken from October 3.
In the success of completion of preparation work, non-interlocking work was carried out on 9 and 10 October,” The SWR press note was stated.
Three walking lines each at Sanvordem and Chandor have been assigned to the signal with a sophisticated electronic interlocking system, it was told.
“This commissioning of the double line will increase the train mobility in this section because the train does not need to wait for the intersection,” said General Manager SWR Sanjeev Kishore.
