Bhubaneswar: The Pancayati Raj State Department on Saturday issued a draft list of reservations for the position of President Zilla Parishad (ZP) from various districts ahead of the Panchayat poll next year.
According to the design list, ZP post President from four districts – Angul, Keonjhar, Khurda and Gajapati – reserved for candidates owned by the backward class, while those in Cuttack, JajatSinghpur, Bhadrak, Jajpur Regency is intended for caste scheduled (SC) candidates .
ZP President posted in 12 districts such as the default, Kendrapada, Ganjam, Jharsuguda, Dhenkanal, Deogarh, Nuabada, Puri, Bargarh, Balalangir, Boudh and Sambalpur are for the category without exhibition.
Likewise, the posts in 10 districts including Kandhamal, Coraput, Nabarangpur, Nuabada, Ballasore, Mayurbhanj, Malkangiri, Raya, Sundargarh and Sonepur were reserved for scheduled tribal candidates.
Because Pancrayat laws have provisions to order 50% of seats in each category for female candidates (which are reservations in the reservation system), women will lead the Zilla Parishads in 15 districts.
Draft Reservations Register for post President ZP has been prepared in accordance with the provisions of the Odisha Panchayat (Amendment) of the newly enforced (amendment), 2021 limit the total order for candidates SC, ST and Backward ‘at 50% scheduled areas.
“Because seven districts in Odisha are included in the Panchayat law to the scheduled area (PESP), which is intended for ST candidates, the supply of 50% of reservations has been carried out in 23 regencies left,” said the Pancayati Department official Raj Pancayati.
