Mangaluru: In an effort to increase vaccination coverage, the Department of Health Dakshina Kannada along with Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) will start the door-to-door vaccination drive which starts at Mangalaru from Monday.
“We plan to discuss the entire population that qualifies in the district through the door-to-door drive and we will start with the city of Mangaluru in the first phase,” said Dr.
Kishore Kumar M, District Health Officer.
He said the government had sent a circular directional health staff to go to door to the door and manage the dose for beneficiaries who qualified.
“We have held discussions with MCC officials who have agreed to hand in hand with the Ministry of Health,” he said.
DHO claims many people who live in the apartment have not taken a vaccine.
He said the team consisting of health staff, Anganwadi and Asha workers and McCC multipurpose workers would conduct a door-todoor survey.
“The second dose of vaccines will also be given if someone has completed the specified interval,” he said, admitting that the last 10% of the population would be the most difficult closed.
“At least 2-3% of the target population may not be eligible for health reasons and some will hesitate,” he said.
“We must reach at least 95% of the target in December which is why we have planned a door-to-door vaccination drive.
We have sufficient dose stock in the district.”
