Dharwad: Forest officials have intensified the operation to look for leopards that have been lost into the field of sugar cane on Jalan Dharwad-Kavalageri on Wednesday night.
The leopard pug in the field has confirmed that the animal is still around.
Immediately after getting information about the presence of leopards in the field of sugar cane owned by Shivappa UPPAR on Wednesday night forest staff rushed to the place and started the operation.
They make a cage with ready bait.
On Thursday morning, the preliminary operation continued and forest officials, which combed the area, found a fresh pug from wild animals.
On Thursday, the Sourabh Kumar Assistant Conservator and the team launched a search operation using a drone camera.
Shivappa’s son UPPAR Maruti said he had seen the leopard at around 4:30 p.m.

DCF said that the forestry department personnel from Dharwad, Haveri and Gadag Regency had been deployed for search operations and three cages with bait has been obtained.
Tranquilizers with weapons have also arrived, he said .
