Bhubaneswar: Discussion of dry mantra triggered by less normal rainfall dominates the first day of the Monsun Assembly Session on Wednesday with BJP opposition and Congress demanding the government declare drought in Odisha and immediately increase reliable steps.
Calling a special discussion about this problem by suspending all businesses, the MLAS Congress rushed to the home house immediately after Obituese reference, because where question and answer hours could not be done.
Then, conditions such as drought in the country were discussed through a delay in which Agriculture Minister Arun Kumar Sahoo said as many as 23 districts had received less rainfall until August 28 and climate change must be blamed for the situation.
The Minister of Agriculture further said that as many as 15 blocks in 11 districts have received a little rain (less than 59%), while the crops have been influenced in 47 blocks from 14 districts.
“Nearly 53.67 hectares of land, so far, has been cultivated during Kharif, which is around 86% of this year’s target to process hectares of 61.96 lakh.
Overall 57.12 lakh hectare is cultivated at this time during the Kharif season last year, “Sahoo said the Assembly.
He added that the state government has taken several steps to mitigate the situation and will continue to support farmers.
The BJP and Congress opposition hit the minister to blame climate change for situations such as drought here.
The opposition Head of Whip and BJP Mla Mohan Majhi and the Legislature Party Congress Leader Narasingha Mishra demanded that the government accept that there is a dryness situation in the state.
