Kolkata: Chairman of the Minister of Mamata Banerjee on Saturday appealed to people to comply with court orders and Covid guidelines during the celebration in Bengal.
CM Banerjee said he would also ask the Secretary of the Head of State to urge the election commission to ensure that “no interference made” during the Puja Days in the four segments of the poll assembly.
“Mandatory mask, please use sanitiser.
You can move at night (during Puja Day) but after following our court order and covid guidelines,” Banerjee said.
CM statements came in the background of the Calcutta High Court on Friday increasing the restrictions that had been announced ahead of last year’s festival.
HC again decided that the interior of the Pandal Durga Puja would remain beyond the limit for visitors for the second year in a row.
According to sources, cm, like last year, it will also inaugurate a virtual puzzle.
“Some of the relief has been given for the puja day.
From October 10, we have given relaxation,” he said.
While increasing covid restrictions until October 30, Bengal has two days that relaxed “movement of people and vehicles between 11pm and 5am” from 10 to 20 October.
“You can’t step into the mandaps.
But you can see it from close without crowding.
And in the mandap, there will be organizers and priests,” he said.
“I will urge the main secretary to talk to EC if a political campaign cannot be done in the October 12-20 festival period.
There will be a week left (before the October 30 poll) for all of that.
We must elect along with the celebration.
I will Urgent all not to create interference (during celebration), “CM said.
“Mahalaaa Aascheh (Mahalaya will come).
I will pray to the goddess that people get a pause from disasters, distress and disease,” CM said.
