Kolkata: City airports recorded the busiest week in more than 20 months with 3 lakh leaflets traveling through this Puja facility, up from just under 2 lakh passengers serving during last year’s festival – a leap of around 57%.
The highest traffic during the eight-day period between Tritiya and Dashami was in Shashthi when 47,193 leaflets using the airport.
While 25,294 passengers fly for Puja, 21,899 people fly out.
The second highest was in Tritiya when 47,068 leaflets used the airport with 25,465 flying and 21,603 passengers flying out.
Last year, the highest traffic days were in Tritiya and Panchami when 33,819 and 33,878 passengers traveled through the airport.
The numbers also showed that the work of the house allowed more kelkatan settling outside the country to return home during the festival as reported in the edition of TOI Monday.
More people fly from those who fly this puja, contrast with the last puja when they fly more than flying numbers.
Also among those who departed last year were migrant workers who had returned to the state in May-June.
National locking.
While 1,03,441 passengers have arrived in the city between Tritiya and Dashami and 1.07.804 people have flown out last year, the trends are different this year with 1,73,971 people flying and 1,779 people fly out.
What has facilitated the revival of Puja traffic is an increase in the number of flights.
The plane movement (landing and takeoff) over an eight-day period increased 41.8% from 1,794 years ago to 2,543 this year.
Although vaccination and the lower number of Covid cases seem to have encouraged the trust of people to travel air, the airport must take a few steps to ensure compliance with SOP Covid.
Thermal screening continues at the entrance to the terminal.
Transparent glass shield has been provided at each ticket check / ID / boarding counter.
Social distance marking is provided at all terminal places.
Covid guidelines are displayed on the Post Board / Video Fids in various places for passenger awareness.
“This year, traffic for an eight-day period rose 56.6% against the period in accordance last year.
It was a significant leap.
Even though we were far away to go before the numbers matched 2019 or before when 70,000-72,000 passengers traveled in A day, with the Civil Service Ministry now allows flights to continue the capacity of 100% pre-covid, up from 80% in present, we can see the gap that is bridged for the next two-three months, “said a Kolkata airport official.
