E-resources access tends to edu institute

Bhubaneswar: For the first time, the Department of Higher Education will provide access to electronic sources to universities and elected autonomous colleges in the state.
E-Resources include research databases, e-journals, magazine subscriptions, e-books and discovery service to the library.
The department has signed an agreement with an aggregator such as Ebsco and Elsevier to provide this service for the benefit of students, scholars, researchers and faculty members of 32 autonomic colleges and 12 state universities.
Institutions will get access through the Odisha Higher Education Board.
“This is a very expensive business for universities and colleges to get access to thousands of journals, magazines, research thesis, dissertation, books and publications.
The government will spend around Rs 12 Crore for e-resource projects,” said the source.
According to the plan, the board will provide access to Sciencesarect to university alone.
Sciencedirect is a website, which provides access to a large bibliographic database of scientific publications and medical publisherservier EBSCO is a leading provider of research databases, journals, magazine subscriptions, e-books and discovery services for all types of libraries.
