Mangaluru: Fast RT-PCR testing laboratories at Mangalore International Airport (MIA) will begin operations from Tuesday, per day when Air India Express (AIE) is scheduled to depart to the United Arab Emirates.
Air India Express has opened a ticket booking for this flight on its website.
KV Rajendra, Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner, said the dry run in the lab had quickly started, and some people had been tested.
There are provisions to do 30 tests at once, and test costs around Rs 3,700.
With this facility, Mia will help many passengers towards Dubai, the opposite must depend on other airports in this country to get there.
UAE’s ban on flights from India, who kicked April 25, was appointed on August 5 but Mia could not schedule a flight due to the illness of the RT-PCR test facility that was fast at the airport.
At present, the Rapes RAPPCR test is one of the main requirements for Dubai’s residence permit holders to enter the UAE.
Wilfred Olivera, a citizen of Kuloor and who lived 6 km from Mia, said he had to order tickets from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, Mumbai, to travel to Dubai.
“I will save money and time if the facility is available in Mia.
I am happy that tourists like me will not be burdened now,” he said.
A passenger who recently traveled to Dubai through Kempegowda International Airport (KIA), said, “In Kia, RT-PCR tests that quickly cost around Rs 3,200.” A Mia spokesman said that the facility would be managed by private companies.
“However, we have not announced the official date when the facility will be available.
We do not know about the Air India Express opening slot for booking tickets to Dubai,” said the spokesman.
