Islamabad: Pakistani Election Commission (ECP) has requested a lower dir administration and the police to enforce the code of ethics and prevent Imran Khan’s prime minister from speaking at the government party rally planned in Timergara on January 27, reported international news.
This step was taken by ECP to carry out elections and fair and the commission has asked the police to stop anyone planning to violate ECP directives.
Previously, ECP, in notice, also issued a code of ethics that prohibits all executive authorities in the Federation and Province either announce development projects or use state resources in elections, which can affect certain candidate selection.
Another letter requested a visit of the Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan to the top today was canceled.
In the current phase, the vote of the local government (LG) was detained in the DR Down and Dir Top, among other districts.
In addition, the provincial regency remaining will hold a second round of local government elections on March 27.
“After the announcement of the election schedule in an area, president, PM, Governor, CM, speaker, or chairman of the Senate and Assembly, federal or provincial cabinet, members, advisors or holders of any public office will not visit the area, announce or inaugurate a development project or a campaign for each candidate where the poll is being held, “said the letter by the Regional Election Commissioner to the Head of District Administration and Police, reported international news.
Police officials acted based on the direction provided by the Pakistani Election Commission and stopped public meetings from being held.
Meanwhile, in response to the letter, the Secretariat of the Minister of Chief was told that the LG poll schedule in the Diran District was announced on January 20, reported the newspaper.
The election Commissioner also discussed the letter to the chairman of the Senate, as well as the National Assembly Speaker and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, advising them to ask their members to follow the ECP instructions in the code of ethics during polling and spirit.
