Greater Noida: The authority of the Yamuna Expressway Industry Development (Yeida) will build a two-room structure in every area of Linya Panchayat under its jurisdiction as a library for local students and youth pursuing higher studies.
Initially, the work will begin in 18 villages and Yeida has been tied with an organization called Gram Pathshala which will provide books depending on demand in certain areas.
“We will build a library and Gram Pathshala will help by giving us books.
We will start with 18 villages in the first phase and see the response we get.
If necessary, we will extend the scheme for other villages under our jurisdiction,” said Arun VIR Singh, CEO, Yeida.
Representative Gram Pathshala said they had met Singh recently with a proposal to establish a library.
“We told him that only such as roads, sewer networks and gardens were built by authority, the library must also be built in every village so that children can learn there after school hours and prepare for competitive exams,” said Pawan Yadav, Member.
from the gram pathshala.
“We told the official that we would provide books, which we received were donations from various institutions and individuals.
We asked him to give us a library room in the villages,” added Yadav.
Officials said work would begin shortly after the plan was resolved by the project department.
Gram Pathshala has provided similar facilities under the Mission Har Gaon EK library in NCR and more than a dozen libraries have been built in the village of Noida and Greater Noida.
Some libraries also operate in Ghaziabad, Meerut, Hapur and Moradabad.
“We have a library with a seating area that is partitioned in the village of Jhundpura, Noida.
There are facilities in Khera Khera in Dadri and one near Pari Chowk in Greater Noida,” said Kp Singh, another member of Gram Pathshala.
