Trichy: Department of Religious Endowment and Ameng Hindu (HR & CE) on Friday inaugurated the running track and a large shower tank for two elephants Srirangam Arulmigu Temple Panganathaswamy temple in Trichy.
Srirangam Temple has two elephants – reliably and aka Lakshmi’s premium – involved in daily temple activities.
According to the guidelines of the High Court of Madras and based on the announcement made in the State Assembly, the shower tank with the capacity to store three liters of water lakh was inaugurated for elephants in Udayavar Thoppu on Jalan Flood Kollidam, Sprawling Forest for 5.48 Acre owned by the HR & CE Department .
The eight-foot walking track resembles a natural habitat through a green cover is also provided.
Track has a length of 857 meters.
Elephants will be taken to the running track covering at least 5 km away every day.
The Grove is located about 1.1 km from the temple.
Gajah-elephants have been involved in physical activity only in the temple site so far.
