Chennai: Secretary General of DMK S Duraimurugan has started a disciplinary action against Tiruvottiyur Mla K P Shankar for beating assistant engineers with Greater Chennai Corporation.
Shankar was removed from the position of Secretary of the West Thiruvotriyur District Party.
The Greater Chennai Corporation on Friday investigated the incident.
A report was handed over to the corporate commissioner Gagandeep Singh Bedi.
Civic’s body, however, has not filed a police complaint and takes any action in this matter.
Engineers are on leave now.
At 1:30 a.m.
on Wednesday, his engineer and technical assistant oversaw the work of the laying of the road at Natarajan Garden First Street when MLA and his men reached there with weapons and attacked the first.
Engineers have asked the contractor to start working on schedule.
But Mla was very angry that the contractor had not met him before working began and accused the corporate officials and supervisor of the contractor.
Mla told the Toi that he hadn’t defeated anyone.
He has stopped the job because the mill has not been done, he said.
