Tapati Mukhopadhyay, President, Federation of Maharashtra University Organizations and Higher Education Teachers, said, “The government has stopped a structured recruitment process for all educational posts at the university a few years ago.
Since then, the talented puddle of educators has been waiting to be part of the system in SIA -drain.
”
Why
PhD is very important
Kesab Bhattacharya, President, All India Federation of University and College Teacher (AIFUCTO), said that many quality attributes to make good teachers.
“For someone in the academic world, both as students or teachers, the PhD is very important because it expands our knowledge base and keeps the learning loop continuously without obstacles,” he said.
Regarding the recruitment of professors, academic excellence is a priority, but accommodation needs to be made for non-PhD holders too.
“Experience shows that young academic professionals, who have no PhD contribute to the teaching and learning process.
In addition, they are very easy to adapt to their environment,” Bhattacharya added.
Yogesh Singh, Deputy Chancellor, DU said that PhD should not be the only criteria for employing professors.
“We must assess candidates on different quality, including the ability to teach and their superiority in academics,” he said.
Applicants will increase
Singh said that UGC had introduced an amendment to help the university filled an empty position.
“Now PhD is not a barrier for many expectations, a group of larger people will get the opportunity to submit a teaching position at all heis who is cultivated,” he said.
Bhattacharya said that there was a case where Getting a PhD might take time.
“Because this affects their feasibility to submit a post in the academic world, we may lose bright and extraordinary candidates, because they can decide to switch to other fields or even other countries,” he said.
This amendment must help us maintain talent, he said.
Mukhopadhyay added that there are several subjects where it gets a difficult PhD for various reasons, which can cause even a very good candidate to be abandoned from the talent pool.
“The recruitment process must be our main concern and sustainable process.
Professors who have been recruited can get a PhD even after they join Hey,” he said.
Recruitment may be affected
“Because the talent pool will increase, the university will have more choices.
However, whether this will lead to changes in the current faculty crisis has not been seen,” said Singh.
Presenting different opinions, Bhattacharya said that by increasing the collection of talents, responsibility would fall on Heis to fill the empty teaching position.
“I believe this will bring change to get better at universities throughout the country,” he said.
