LONDON: England can face “big waves” omicron infection from January next year if restrictions on social meetings are not forced, new scientific analysis warns on Saturday.
The London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) model put all the scenarios that might remember the current level of infection increases in the UK, with the remaining uncertainty on the numbers that will ultimately need hospitalization because of the virus.

“Based on what we saw, we could hope for a large omicron wave in the UK,” said Dr.
Nick Davies, one of the researchers behind LSHTM modeling.

“In our most optimistic scenario, the impact of Omicron at the beginning of 2022 will be reduced by light control measures such as working from home,” Dr.
Rosanna Barnard, one of the analysis researchers, told the BBC.
“However, our most pessimistic scenario shows that we may have to bear more stringent restrictions to ensure the NHS is not overwhelmed.
