Patna: This country prepares to manage Covid vaccine shots to children in the age group 15 to 18 years after the announcement of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in this matter.
With only a week left to practice starting from January 3, health officials have begun to do groundwork even though the detailed central guidelines in connection with the vaccination of children is still awaited.
The Ministry of Health Special Secretary Sanjay Kumar Singh said that around 75 children lakh would fall in the 15-18 year category in the state.
“According to data released in 2002, almost 28 children were born per year in the state.
Not including some newborn death cases, we expect the number of children to the age group 15-18 years to around 75 lakh,” added Singh.
Asked whether the beneficiaries of women will also be inoculated at educational institutions, Singh said, “We are waiting for the detailed central guidelines.
After everything is clear, the plan will be made accordingly.
Vaccination can be arranged at school or even at home.
We have sufficient vaccine doses To include children who qualify, “he added.
Although PM Modi announced teen vaccination over 15 years, Bharat Biotech has been seeking approval for emergency use of vaccines for children in the age group 12 to 18 years.
“We are waiting for clear instructions in this case from the center,” said a senior doctor.
In Bihar, Bharat Biotech Covaxin’s clinical trial has been carried out in almost 200 children in the age group of 2-18 years in AIIMS-Patna.
