Chennai: With the Supreme Court directing the State Election Commission to hold local agency polls on September 15 in nine new districts, AIADMK Co-coordinator Edappadi K Palaniswami on Thursday advising Kancheepuram District District Secretary, Tiruvallur, Chengalpet, besides Chennai to get for a fight.
The coordinator of the Party O Panneerselvam, however, missed a meeting that took small stock taking from the party’s performance in the assembly election as well.
The meeting, which was held at the party headquarters, came with a background of the call V K Sasikala to cadres and officials and insisted he would take over the party.
“Even though there was no discussion about Sasikala, EPS firmly that senior partymen had to change the approach to cadres and the public and won the local agency poll.
This is a functionary failure to take over cadres who cost the party costs in the assembly election,” said an official, privy said for meetings.
Last week, the chairman of the Minister and Head of DMK M St Stalin had held a district secretary meeting, advising them to develop a plan to win the local body.
In a two-hour meeting with 10 Secretary of Chennai and the district and senior leaders, EPS strongly dismissed suggestions that came from some that dissatisfied minorities and cadres were reasons for poor shows in the assembly selection.
Palaniswami showed how he won the election in the edappadi segment with their support.
The local agency poll must be won by choosing the appropriate candidate and taking AIADMK achievements to the public, he said.
Palaniswami also issued a statistical results of the poll and said the party could win in more than 25 seats, where he was lost by a very low margin, and secured the third term in a row.
In T Nagar, Aiadmk B Sathiyanaranyanan loses from 137 votes for DMK J struggle.
AIADMK loses the tenkasi chair and katpadi to the DMK of 370 votes and 746 chooses each.
When the conversation turns the “failure” of the DMK in implementing promises, including RS 1,000 assistance for home makers, eliminating NEET, reducing fuel prices and loan neglecting in cooperative banks, Palaniswami is aware of it and for now the party must focus on local agency polls.
“He said the distribution of the voice between Aiadmk and DMK was only 3.8% and that reflected people’s support for the regime,” another official said.
