Brussels: The European Union’s top diplomat will warn the block on Wednesday that it must approve ambitious doctrines for joint military actions abroad, including the crisis power that can be used, according to the draft quotation seen by Reuters.
Josep Borrell will present fellow European Commissioners, the first design of “strategic compass”, the closest thing that the EU can have into the military doctrine and similar to the “strategic concept” of NATO which sets the purpose of Alliance.
“Europe is in danger,” said the Head of the EU Foreign Policy will say, according to the draft of the introduction.
He will emphasize that US-led NATO Alliance remains responsible for European collective defense.
While European countries have highly trained soldiers and cyber strength, navy and air, duplicated resources on 27 military and train missions and EU assistance are simple measurements.
Member countries also lack the ability of logistics and orders and control of the United States and cannot match the collection of intelligence.
Separate threats assessments are confidential, but diplomats quote countries that fail on the European border as an area where the EU may need to send peacekeepers or evacuate citizens.
The EU foreign ministers and defense will take problems on Monday, aiming to approve the last political documents in March.
With blessings from US President Joe Biden in the Communique with French President Emmanuel Macron last month, the European Union believes it can be a more useful allies for the United States if developing independent military capacity.
England came out from the European Union, seizing the block of military force, it had provided the opportunity for Paris to encourage ambitions to the role of the EU which was greater in defense, with Berlin.
Diplomats said there were many warning signs, including the former “American First” policy of US President Donald Trump who undermined the EU priority.
But despite the progress of building general defense funds to develop joint weapons since the end of 2017, the EU has not spread battle-sized batalon in a crisis.
Borrell will say that the strategic compass is not only other UE documents, record past failures in defense.
“The difference this time lies at the speed at which the geo-political context changes.
This makes the case for more urgent action,” Borrell said in the introduction to the draft.
“All threats we face intensify and the capacity of individual member countries to overcome them is insufficient and decrease.”
