Mumbai: A week after it was established that Sameer Wankhede did not qualify for the license bar and restaurant on the day he secured it, Thane Superintendent Nilesh Sangde on Monday issued it, asked why it was not revoked or suspended.

Sangde confirmed to Ti, the Excise Ministry has requested Maharashtra’s prohibition on this issue.
“We have issued a showcuse notification below section 54 of the law.
We hope he responds to the Showcuse notification within 15 days.
After receiving the answer, we will decide on the action.
He must present the case before the Thane collector,” Sangde said.
A student excise official said section 54 (e) provides a suspension or cancellation of licenses if obtained through an accidental representation or fraudulent error.
