JAMSHEDPUR: Expecting Mothers in the Ghatshila District of Singhbhum Timur face a terrible time because there is no ultrasound engine in the Ghatshila sub-division hospital managed by the government.
The source said a pregnant woman in the hospital after the initial examination was ordered to go to the nearest private nurse house for the ultrasound test (USG).
The closest personal clinic in which ultrasound facilities are available more than 3 km.
Prospective mothers complain that they not only have to spend money on ultrasound in private nursing homes, they often face many difficulties in covering distance during the summer.
In private clinics they have to wait for hours.
Drinking water or the right bathroom is not available on the site.
Durga Tudu and Sunita Hansda from the rural part of Ghatshila alleged that when they went for ultrasound in sub-division hospitals, health staff after testing Covid-19 instructed them to complete the test at a private clinic.
Without an option at hand, they must stand in a queue outside the clinic which is 3 km away.
After closing the distance on foot, the two pregnant women felt sick.
Dr.
Shankar Tudu, who was responsible for the doctor at the Sub-Division Hospital, said: “Due to an ultrasound literary illness, pregnant women cannot be tested at the sub-division hospital.” Nitu Tudu said often a pregnant woman from the rural part of Ghatshila traveled more than 27 km to the sub-division hospital for inspection and without ultrasound facilities there, they had to take 3 km again to a private clinic.
