Geneva: The Technical Advisory Group of the World Health Organization on Tuesday reviewing data on Covaxin for a list of vaccine emergency use made illegally and satisfied with the recommendations expected in the next 24 hours, a spokesman said.
Bharat Biotech based in Hyderabad, who has developed Covaxin, has sent EOI (expressions of interest) to WHO on April 19 for a list of emergency use vaccines (EUL).
“If the committee is satisfied, we will expect a recommendation in the next 24 hours,” whose spokesman told reporters.
Covaxin has shown 77.8 percent effectiveness of Covid-19 and 65.2 percent simptomatic protection against the new Delta variant.
In June, the company said it concluded the final analysis of the efficacy of the Covaxin of the phase test 3.
Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin and AstraZeneca and Oxford University’s Covishield were two vaccines that were widely used in India.
WHO has a Covid-19 vaccine that is approved so far from Pfizer-Bontech, Astrazeneca-SK Bio / Serum Institute of India, Johnson and Johnson-Janssen, Modern, and Sinopharm for emergency use.
