‘Family struck by Hirakud Dam Project is compensated’

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government and Chhattisgarh have told the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) that the families moved by the Hirakud Dam project have been compensated and rehabilitated well.
There is no claim for the same thing waiting, the report delivered by the two countries said.
Following their shipment, the Commission sent a copy of the report to Tripathy Radhakanta Petitioner.
He will submit his comments within four weeks.
The rights panel continued this order on October 14 after hearing the petition submitted by Tripathy, a lawyer and activist rights, on March 6, 2017.
The applicant has stated that 26,561 families were moved for the construction of the Hirakud dam in 1952-53.
Many of these families belong to Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh and Subarnapur District are influenced by the project.
The maturity compensation was not paid to them, the petition said.
After finding out, the rights panel issued a notification to the authorities concerned several times.
On January 5, 2018, the Commissioner of the Sambalpur Revenue Division (RDC) has submitted that problems related to DC Patta, Payment of Ex Gratia, Homestead Land, settlement of agricultural land, basic facilities and other facilities have been completed.
Except for a few problems, no cases of delayed rehabilitation until now, RDC said in the report.
The state has continued an investigation report to the commission on June 5.
