Vadodara: Special Operations Group (SOG) Chhota Udepur Police arrested a farmer from Kawant Taluka on Tuesday for allegedly growing marijuana on his farm.
SOG Sleuggers have received a tip-off of marijuana agriculture in Umathi Kawant Village based on the police team storming the farm.
They found 127 marijuana plants on Agriculture Sildar Rathwa and Tama Rathwa.
While Sildar was arrested, Tama had been declared as desired because he was not found there.
The duo was ordered under drug narcotics and psychotropic substances (NDPS) acting at the Kawant Police Station.
The police said that 127 plants seized weighed more than 240 kg with a market value of more than RS 24 Lakh.
Sildar will be produced before the Special NDPS court on Wednesday and his detention will be sought to investigate who has supplied marijuana seeds to him and to whom he plans to sell drugs.
In the past month, this is the fifth arrest of a farmer in the chhota udepur to grow marijuana on their farm and backyard.
Previously, the police had arrested four farmers in various parts of the district and won cannabis worth Rs 1 Crore.
