Vadodara: Tribe farmers in the interior villages of the Chhota Udepur district have been under police scanners to grow marijuana to get fast money.
In the past two days, four farmers were arrested in Zoz and Kawant and Ganja Stock worth more than Rs 97 lakh confiscated.
On Tuesday, the Kawan police raided agriculture and a farmer’s house identified as an anklesh Rathwa in the village of RoyalVav.
The police found 196kg of marijuana plants planted by Rathwa in the backyard of his house while more than 66 kg of plants were found from his agriculture.
Rathwa was ordered under narcotic narcotics and psychotropic substances acting and arrested.
In another incident, Zoz police arrested three farmers named Raman Nayka, Shankar Nayka and Sursing Nayka from Mithibor Village on November 8.
Police said that the trio had grown 4,732 cannabis plants worth 70.9 lakh in the backyard.
“Most of these marijuana farmers are found in the regional interior area.
Initial investigations have revealed that these farmers sell shares to dealers from neighboring districts,” said the Chhota Udepur Dharmendra Sharma Police Supervisor.
“We are also investigating further about sources of seeds and whoever other people are involved in buying the harvest from these farmers,” he added.
Other police officials said that so far, farmers have not provided a satisfying answer about who sells seeds to them.
“We have obtained the rights of the court on Wednesday so we will be able to find some information from them immediately,” police official said.
