Bengaluru: The Chairman of the Minister of Balasavaraj Bommai on Sunday said he had appealed to the center to track forest permissions for two coal blocks allocated for Karnataka so that the crisis of power due to coal shortages was avoided in the state.
Bommai said the center had allocated coal blocks – one near Chandrapur in Maharashtra and others was Mahanadi in Odisha – and he had asked the Environmental and Forest (MOEF) Minister of Forest (Moef) Bhupnedra Yadav to give permission needed at the beginning.
“Both blocks given to Karnataka need certain permission.
For example, the Chandrapur coal field requires a letter from PCCF (head of the main forest conservator) Maharashtra.
When I talked to him yesterday, Moef assured me that Clarence would soon be given after he received a PCCF letter and me Hope it will be done in a week, “said Bommai.
Bommai, regarding the Mahanadi coal block, said the mine had received permits needed because they were managed by others.
“We have convinced Jadav that we don’t need to get fresh permission for this coal block and he assures that he will see the file and do what is needed,” he added.
Bommai said that with the inclusion of two Batubara Karnataka blocks will be more independent in terms of coal supply, while transportation costs will also decrease due to the Chandrapur coal block.
He said that he had discussed this issue with Coal Minister Union Prahalad Joshi and Moef Yadav about the permission needed …
“Apart from this, we have asked Joshi to allocate two additional rakes (one rake equal to 4,000 tons) and he has directed the people Officials to do what is needed, “he said.
Meanwhile, Josdhi told the media in New Delhi that there was a stock of coal which was enough of 43 million tons with Indian coal and was not enough to meet 24-day coal demand.
At the price of a skyrocketing gasoline and Diesel, Bommai said his government would receive a call to reduce state sales tax on motor fuel after considering the financial situation and income position.
