WASHINGTON: Federal agent conducts “law enforcement activities” on Tuesday at a Washington mansion owned by Russian Oligarchy Oleg Deripaska, a close ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The agent is carrying out “official law enforcement activities,” said a spokesman for agency.
Officials will not provide additional information about the situation around their presence or information about potential investigations involving deripaska.
Rich Russians who made the money in the aluminum business were allies near Putin and mentioned several times in the Special Report Robert Mueller about the interference in the 2016 Presidential Election.
Deripaska also had a relationship with Paul Manafort, former Chair of the President of the President Donald Trump, who was punished for Eight financial crimes as an inquiry of Mueller section.
Manafort was later forgiven by Trump.
The Ministry of Finance, under Trump’s rule, has also raised financial sanctions on three companies connected with Deripaska.
Officials said at that time they did it because shareholder shares directly and indirectly derapaska in the three companies had diminished to the point that he no longer had control over them.
