VIUDHUNAGAR: Minister Tamil Nadu M St Stalin has written to his colleagues in four states, urging them to consider lifting blanket prohibitions at this god.
He said the ban would set a poor precedent to other countries with less than three weeks left for the festival and influenced the livelihood of eight lakh employees in Virudhunagar Regency.
In a letter to the main ministers of Delhi, Odisha, Rajasthan and Haryana, Stalin stated that the Covid-19 pandemic had a crippling effect on the micro, small and medium sector (MSMEs) in the country.
The Tamil Nadu economy, mostly depends on the MSME sector for growth and work, significantly affected, he said.
Responding to his request, the Rajasthan government attracted a ban on Friday night.
Stalin thanked the Head of the Head of Rajasthan Ashok Gehlot for his quick response to his letter and raised a ban on blankets in firecrackers.
“Your good action will illuminate the life of Lakh people who depend on this industry for their livelihoods,” Stalin told Gehlot.
In his letter, Stalin said that the state government is now in the process of reviving the sector through focused intervention.
He stated that the concentrated firefighting industry around the city of Sivakasi in Virudhunagar Regency was the largest fireworks manufacturer in India.
“It has been taken to my notification that your government has imposed a ban on the sale of firecrackers during this festival season (Diwali-2021),” Stalin said in the letter and added that he could understand that the decision was taken by them.

Stalin stated that the Supreme Court has banned certain categories from pollution firecrackers and now, green crackers with far fewer emissions produced.
“The ban on blankets in firecrackers does not make sense.
Such prohibitions are unusual in other countries,” he said.
CM adds that such a ban if forced by other countries will also lead to the close of the entire industry, endangering the livelihood of around eight lakh people.
He urged a balanced approach that respects the environment, livelihoods and public health.
He urged the state government to reconsider the ban on the blanket of firecrackers and allow the sale of firecrackers that fall into the norms set by the APEX and National Green Tribunal courts.
Then that day Stalin thanked Minister Rajasthan Ashok Gehlot because of his quick response to his letter and raised a blanket ban on the sale of firecrackers.

The cracker producer would like to thank CM and Industrial Minister Thangam Thanarasu for their efforts.
Speaking to Toi, the President of the Tamil Nadu fireworks and the Association of Amorces producers (Tanfama) P Ganesan said that all of these countries had imposed prohibitions even though producers made green crackers.
