Five lions arrested for ‘health checks’

Rajkot: The forest department on Wednesday night arrested five lions from Port Pipavav in Krabula Taluka from the Amreli district quoting ‘health checks.’ DT Vasavada, Head of Forest Conservator (Wildlife Circle), to TI: We have arrested a lion for health checks following the death report in the area.
We will release it after all reports are confirmed negative.
We have checked up with oxularis and did not find problems with their health, but we wanted to be sure.
‘However, lion conservation activists in the area kiss something suspicious.
Vasavada, however, denied finding something suspicious in the postmortem lion report found dead in the Khambha and Rajula area recently.
Five lions have been taken to the center of saving of Jasadhar animals.
Eight lions arrested in January from the Jetpur area were locked up for a month without the right reason before they were released after lion activists.
Activists are afraid of the same care as these lions.
Bhushan Pandya, a member of the state wildlife council said, “We do not know why these lions are arrested but we hope they are released in the wild as soon as possible after a health check.”
