Zurich: Switzerland suffered one of the toughest rainfall in records during the storm that caused flooding and chaos of travel on Tuesday in his financial capital, Zurich.
Rain of more than 4 cm (1.57 inches) fell on Zurich last night and more than 3.1 cm rain fell in 10 minutes at Waldegg, right outside the city, said the SRF broadcasters.
That was compared with a record 4.11 cm which fell in 10 minutes at Lausanne during the storm in August 2018, he said.
The network parts of the bus and tram Zurich are stopped because fallen trees are blocked, and some roads are flooded.
City authorities do not provide details about injury or death.
“I went a walk in the morning and the rain didn’t stop.
There are big trees that have been dropped at night, it’s really scary,” said Zurich Resents Jessica Adams told Reuters.
South Canton Wallis warns people to stay away from the river because the surface of the water rises.
The SRF meteo service said the rain was further estimated and that the flooding would likely deteriorate, especially around the lake and river.
It also warned landslides.
