New Delhi: Minister of Finance Nirmala Sitharaman met with several American investors and pitched across sectoral investments from Pharma to Finance and Telecommunications – citing recent initiatives taken by the government.
Sitharaman, in the US to attend the World Bank and IMF annual meetings, met with private equity of Advent International Managing Investor Mitra David Mussafer.
“Opportunities to direct foreign collaboration and attract investment in sectors such as financial services, health care and pharmaceutical, technology discussed.
AIC has been present in India and then committed to expanding its business plan in India,” the Ministry of Finance said in a post on Twitter.
FM also met with Mitra Managing Co-Capital Bain John Connaughton and Cochairman Steve Pagluca and highlighted the possibility of investment in the gift city and infrastructure.
He also discussed with the American Tower company with the company’s executive vice president Edmund Disanto who said that the recent government movement has shown “new acceptance” and position India in a way that is profitable for the global investor community.
“We are 76,000 towers now throughout our cellular network (in India) and we think we will go 4,000 more,” he added.
Likewise, ExxonMobil said “interested in playing an active role in increasing natural gas share in the mixture of overall energy India”, the ministry said.
Separately he held a discussion with several business leaders, organized by the FICCI industry lobby group.
