New Delhi: With the economy of the country suffering from huge losses in the past two years because of the Covid pandemic, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Friday said efforts would be made to bring him back to the next financial line.
After a meeting of high-level reviews with the Ministry of Finance and Planning, Sisodia, which also conducted a financial portfolio, said the focus would develop Delhi as a business center and service in 2022-23.
The Kejriawal government will also focus on industrial development, he added.
Financial years 2020-21 and 2021-22 are very bad for the country’s economy because of covid-induced restrictions on various businesses.
In 2020-21, there were a shortage of 34% in the collection of state income because it was almost non-functional economic in the first quarter.
Better income collection in fiscal is currently compared to the last.
The AAP government has presented the 69,000 crore RS budget for the financial year of 2021-22, which is 16% higher than the revised estimate of 2020-21.
The budget for 2022-23 is likely to rise further, the Ministry of Finance official said.
After the review meeting, Sisodia said the Delhi budget would be special and would grow the economic growth of national capital.
He added that the planning department had carried out several studies and based on his findings, the government tried to understand what innovative ways could be introduced to improve the capital’s economy and increase employment opportunities.
Further CM representatives say that there will be a focus on various public welfare schemes, including education, health, electricity and clean drinking water, in the upcoming budget.
“The need for all the population of the country will be remembered when preparing this year’s budget, which will help them recover from the economic crisis led by a pandemic,” Sisodia said.
