Paris: The European Union infectious disease body on Thursday urged countries to push forward with their main Covid-19 vaccination program and played the need for shooting to ward off Delta variants among the general public.
The European Union CDC said that the approved vaccine “is currently very effective” in limiting the impact of Covid-19, but adding that additional doses must be considered for people with a weak immune system.
On average 70% of adults are fully vaccinated in block 27 countries, but national vaccination rates vary with Bulgaria and Romania are very slow.
Many countries struggle to provide the first dose, and who have called for the moratorium on the booster.
On Wednesday, France became the first UE country to start giving a booster shot.
